Bengal Health
What You Need To Know
Bengals are known for their athleticism, intelligence, and vibrant appearance—but like all breeds, they can be prone to certain hereditary or breed-related health conditions. We prioritise health in every aspect of our breeding program to ensure our kittens have the best possible start in life. Below are some of the key health conditions bengals may be predisposed to—and what we do to screen and prevent them.
DNA Testing
Our Commitment to Health and Integrity
The health of our cats is our top priority. All our breeding adults undergo comprehensive DNA testing through Orivet, screening for the most relevant hereditary conditions in the breed:

-
Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK-def): A condition that can cause anemia and weakness.
-
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD): A potentially serious kidney disorder.
-
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-b): A degenerative eye disease that can lead to vision loss.

By screening for these diseases, we ensure none of our kittens are affected by these inheritable conditions. This allows us to make informed pairing decisions, protect the integrity of our lines, and give our families confidence that their kitten comes from healthy, genetically sound parents.
DNA testing is not just a health safeguard — it reflects our commitment to transparency, ethical breeding, and lifelong support for every kitten we place.
Quality Veterinary Care
Our Kittens
We prioritise the health and well-being of our cats and kittens through a close partnership with two esteemed local veterinarians. Our approach to healthcare is proactive and thorough, ensuring that each cat receives the highest standard of care.
We utilise a convenient mobile veterinary service that visits our cattery to administer microchips and initial vaccinations. During these visits, our cats also undergo a comprehensive health examination, and a health certificate is issued. This certificate confirms that the following areas have been meticulously checked:

-
Ears, Eyes, and Nose: Ensuring no signs of infection or discharge.
-
Mouth: Checking for healthy teeth and gums.
-
Heart and Lungs: Listening for normal function and rhythm.
-
Lymph Nodes: Ensuring no swelling or abnormalities.
-
Abdomen: Checking for any tenderness or irregularities.
-
Skin: Looking for signs of allergies or parasites.
-
Musculoskeletal System: Assessing joint health and muscle tone.
-
Urogenital System: Ensuring normal function and health.

Our proactive health checks guarantee that our cats are not only look good but are also in peak physical condition. For more details on our health protocols or specific inquiries, please contact us.
Vaccinations
F3
What is the F3 Vaccination?

The F3 vaccination is an essential part of your Bengal cat's health routine, providing protection against three key feline diseases: Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Infectious Enteritis), Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Herpesvirus (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis). These diseases can cause severe respiratory and gastrointestinal issues and can be fatal, making vaccination crucial.

Why Vaccinate with F3?

-
Protection against serious diseases: The F3 vaccination guards against conditions that can significantly affect your cat's quality of life and can be costly to treat.
-
Prevent disease spread: Vaccinating helps to prevent the spread of these common diseases to other cats in your home or community.
-
Long-term health: Early vaccination and regular boosters help ensure your Bengal lives a long, healthy life.
